Kelce got down on a knee in a rose-filled garden, where Swift appeared emotional as she said “yes.” The Kansas City Chiefs tight end then slipped a diamond by Kindred Lubeck at Artifex Fine Jewelry on her left ring finger.
Shortly before Swift and Kelce confirmed their engagement, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the power couple were “genuinely ready” for their next chapter together.
“They want to be married and have kids in the future,” the insider said in a cover story published earlier that month, noting the duo are “on the same page.”

Rumors quickly swirled as to where the football player popped the question. TMZ speculated that the special moment took place at Kelce’s estate in Kansas City, since topographical images of his backyard reveal matching foliage to the pair’s garden proposal. Fan sleuths, meanwhile, noticed that the portraits resembled the location of Swift’s photo shoot for her 2019 album, Lover.
To promote Lover, Swift posed solo in a garden filled with lots of roses and stone pedestals. There was also a vintage-inspired street sign at the corner of 16th Ave and Cornelia Street, the latter of which was a song off the LP.
“Taylor and Travis’ engagement photoshoot looking similar to the Lover photos is crazy,” one fan wrote via X, with another adding, “Sobbing at how the engagement location looks like the Lover album photoshoot.”
Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, confirmed to local outlet News 5 Cleveland on Tuesday that the proposal actually took place at a garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
“He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘let’s go out and have a glass of wine,’ … they got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful,” Kelce said. “They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great.”

While Swift and Kelce posted their announcement on August 26, 2025, they were actually engaged days prior.
“Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago,” Ed said on Tuesday. “He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event. And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event … when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”

Kelce proposed with an old mine brilliant cut diamond that was set on a gold band surrounded by smaller stones and a thin bezel. The bauble was designed by Kindred Lubeck at Artifex Fine Jewelry.

In true millennial fashion, Swift and Kelce announced their engagement with a joint Instagram slideshow.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” they wrote, punctuating the caption with a dynamite emoji.
Fans immediately theorized that the dynamite illustration could represent “TNT,” which also corresponds to their initials and matches the gilded bracelet Swift has worn on multiple occasions. Swift even wore the bracelet during the proposal, which complemented her bedazzled Cartier watch on the other arm.
Swift also reposted the proposal pics onto her Instagram Stories, setting the upload to her song “So High School.” The Tortured Poets Department song was notably written about her love story with Kelce.
