The comedian passed off his resume to Harrison Ford: “Could you get this to Spielberg?”

Stephen Colbert kicked off the 2025 Emmys with a plea for employment.

The Late Show host received a standing ovation when presenting the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category at Sunday night’s ceremony and immediately took the opportunity to joke about his talk show’s cancellation at CBS.

“While I have your attention: is anyone hiring?” the Colbert Report alum asked the crowd at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles before highlighting his crew.

“Because I got 200 very well-qualified candidates with me here tonight who will be available in June.”

Colbert then pivoted back to discussing his own employment status.

“I also brought my own resume here tonight,” he said, holding up a heavily creased piece of paper.

“I haven’t had a chance to update my headshot in a bit, but I think it still works,” Colbert continued, holding up a black-and-white photo of himself as a much younger man.

“I’m in there somewhere. After I get back from Istanbul, I’m sure.”

The comedian then passed his resume off to an A-list audience member in the hopes that he might pass it along to a Hollywood titan.

“I only have the one,” Colbert said of the document. “Harrison Ford, could you get this to Spielberg, would you?”

Colbert approached Ford’s seat at the front of the theater and slipped him the paper.

The comedian then read the nominees and announced the winner: The Studio‘s Seth Rogen.

In July, CBS — which also broadcasts the Emmys — announced that The Late Show will conclude its run on the network in May 2026.

While critics of the decision suggested that the show’s cancellation might be connected to the required approval from Donald Trump’s administration over the then-pending merger of CBS and Skydance, the network insisted that behind-the-scenes rumblings at the company had no effect.

“This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night.

It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount,” CBS said in a statement announcing the decision.
