In a new ad for Jimmy Choo, Sydney Sweeney doubled down on criticism she faced in 2022 from ballet dancers after the actress was photographed posing in pointe shoes

Sydney Sweeney is doubling down on past criticism by portraying a ballerina in her latest Jimmy Choo campaign.
The Euphoria star has faced backlash for her recent ad campaigns, including a controversial American Eagle ad that was widely debated, for selling bar soap supposedly made from her bathwater, and a photoshoot from a few years ago that features her posing on pointe that upset the dancing community.
For the luxury brand’s Autumn 2025 campaign, which was shared on social media on Tuesday, Sydney dug her heels into criticism by portraying a dancer yet again, which has already ruffled some feathers.
Jimmy Choo posted the ad with the caption, “The Autumn 2025 campaign is a modern fable of feminine expression; a celebration of the transformative power shoes and accessories possess.
We can play the role of whoever we want to be. Sydney Sweeney brings to life the characters of the hero styles from the Autumn collection.”

In the ad spot, Sydney portrays multiple different characters that coincide with what style of shoe she’s wearing.
The video shows her on a set, springing into action as soon as the cameras roll.
For one character, Bar, she wears a black leotard and white boots as she stretches on a set built to resemble a dance studio.
According to Creative Director Sandra Choi, “This campaign reinforces the power of shoes and accessories to transform, acting out the possible characters.
The notion that glamour is a feeling.”
The pose may very well be a nod to the controversy she faced in 2022, when she was dragged for posing on pointe in a baby pink outfit.
People, mostly dancers, mocked her technique and criticized her for cosplaying a ballerina.

The actress was criticized for posing in pointe shoes in the past
This wouldn’t be the first time the Anyone But You star came under fire for her advertisement work.
Most recently, her campaign for American Eagle was slammed for appearing to be a eugenicist dog whistle for using the slogan ‘Sydney Sweeney has good jeans,’ a play on words that left people wondering what exactly the brand’s intent was.
The advertisement was widely debated, with many threatening to boycott the brand after it defended its choice of words.
Some also felt that Sydney’s selling Dr.
Squatch soap made of her own bathwater was in poor taste, especially since she hit out at women who criticized her for pandering to male fans and over-sexualizing herself to sell products.
Despite all the controversy, perhaps the biggest offense in the Jimmy Choo ad is the fact that Sydney is wearing white shoes after Labor Day.

💥 “NO CAMERAS. NO PRESS. JUST THREE NAMES THE WORLD THOUGHT THEY KNEW.” 🌪️ When the Category-5 monster Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, help was nowhere in sight. Then — without a single announcement — a private jet touched down at dawn. Inside: Rachel Maddow. Stephen Colbert. Joy Reid. No sponsors. No cameras. No entourage. They brought 5 tons of food, medicine, water filters, and $1.5 million in aid, all paid from their own pockets. Locals said they worked through the night — lifting boxes, feeding children, treating wounds — not a single word about fame or press. And when a volunteer asked why they came, Joy Reid quietly answered: “Because the news doesn’t need to cover this — humanity does.” By morning, they were gone. No selfies. No headlines. Just whispers spreading across the island — “Were those really them?” Nobody knows who leaked the flight manifest. But one thing’s certain: this wasn’t charity.
