Sydney Sweeney was noticeably absent from the Emmys after-parties despite making an appearance at the main event.

Although she offered an explanation for skipping the post-show festivities, her low-key presence at the ceremony has sparked speculation about whether she is being snubbed in Hollywood over her rumored MAGA ties.

In recent weeks, Sydney Sweeney has also courted controversy with her American Eagle denim campaign and the revelation that she is a registered Republican.

Sunday night marked another edition of the Emmys, one of Hollywood’s most renowned award ceremonies. As expected, many celebrities were in attendance, including Sydney Sweeney, who was once nominated for her work on Euphoria.

For the event, the actress arrived in a daring red gown but had a very limited presence that may have surprised her fans.  While she did step on stage once to present an award, she wasn’t seen interacting with colleagues backstage.

Even more noticeably, unlike many other stars, she skipped the Emmys after-parties, choosing instead to head home.

When asked why she wasn’t staying behind, Sweeney explained she had an early filming commitment the next day, per TMZ.

However, despite leaving early, she took a moment to snap selfies with fans on her way out and also offered one a compliment about their camera.

According to the Daily Mail, after the Emmys, questions have arisen over whether Sydney Sweeney’s subdued appearance might be the industry giving her the cold shoulder due to her alleged MAGA ties.

One netizen even pointed this out in an X post after the ceremony, noting her absence while also highlighting how many of the speeches were all anti-MAGA.

“I hate Hollywood.  They ignored Sydney Sweeney because she’s a Republican.  They also had speeches that ended with ‘Free Palestine.’ Award shows are propaganda that I haven’t watched in decades,” said the netizen.

Interestingly, while Sweeney has never publicly declared her political stance, reports have emerged that she is a registered Republican.

According to BuzzFeed, the actress registered as a Republican voter in Monroe County, Florida, on June 14, 2024.

Her voter status was listed as “Active,” suggesting she may have participated in the election that brought Donald Trump back to office.

Further fueling the narrative that the actress may have fallen out of favor in Hollywood is the backlash over her American Eagle denim campaign.

Sweeney was seen in multiple videos seemingly praising her “genes” in what appeared to be a cheeky denim pun for the brand’s “jeans” campaign.

One of the videos featured the actress standing in front of a poster that reads “Sydney Sweeney has great genes.” However, the word “genes” had been crossed out and swapped with the word “jeans.”

In another clip, Sweeney was seen reading out the lines, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color. My jeans are blue.”

Since the ad campaign, the actress has faced a barrage of criticism, with one outspoken woman even heckling Sweeney during the premiere of her crime thriller American.

The unidentified heckler shouted at Sweeney, “Stop the ad, that is being racist!” just as the actress was being escorted by security toward the theater’s entrance, per TMZ.

For reasons unclear, Sweeney has chosen not to address the criticism about the ad, unlike the jeans company, which put out a statement doubling down on the campaign.

Even when she was recently questioned about it by Vanity Fair, the actress chose to shut down the question.

“I am there to support my movie and the people involved in making it, and I’m not there to talk about jeans,” Sweeney told the outlet ahead of the promotion of her upcoming film, “Christy” at the Toronto Film Festival. “The movie’s about Christy and that’s what I’ll be there to talk about.”
