Wilson was a latecomer to the NFL after entering the league at 24.

He played six seasons in total after being drafted by the Bengals in the third round in 2020.

“From being a Wyoming kid with big dreams to hearing my name called in the [third] round of the 2020 Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, football gave me more than I ever could have imagined,” Wilson wrote in an emotional post on Instagram.

“When I look back on my career, I just feel grateful. Not many Wyoming kids get the chance to live out their dream in the NFL, and I never took a single snap for granted.”

Wilson played in Super Bowl LVI for the Bengals, with Cincy beaten 23-20 by the Los Angeles Rams.

“Cincinnati will always mean a lot to me,” he continued.

“The teammates, coaches, staff, and fans made those years unforgettable.

“That 2021 playoff run was something special. The interception in Tennessee to send us to the AFC Championship, beating Kansas City to win the AFC, and taking the field in the Super Bowl.

“Those moments and that locker room are something I’ll carry with me forever.

“And the best part of all, my daughter was born there.

“Now I’m excited for what’s ahead – more time with family, new fitness challenges, and the next chapter of life.

“Thank you to every teammate, coach, trainer, staff member, and fan who was part of the journey.”

Wilson was voted a Bengals captain in 2025 but was benched during the season in favor of rookie Barrett Carter.

The Cowboys traded a 2026 seventh-round pick for the linebacker last offseason after he requested to leave Cincinnati.

Across seven games with Dallas, Wilson was credited with 28 tackles and a forced fumble, but started just once.

He was released on February 20 and leaves the NFL having earned $29.6million, per Spotrac.

The move leaves Dallas with just DeMarvion Overshown, Shemar James and Justin Barron as inside linebackers on the roster.

“Man, respect to Logan Wilson,” wrote one fan on X after news of his retirement broke.

“From grinding every snap to earning that veteran status, that journey is not easy at all.”

“I thought he was going to be the next big thing at linebacker.. how/why did everything go down hill?” asked a second.

“Wow, another LB in his prime, was a pleasure to watch, enjoy your retirement,” said a third.

“Underrated player his whole career. Always showed up in coverage and against the run. Best of luck in retirement, Logan!” wrote a fourth.
