MIKE EVANS has emerged as a surprise candidate to be cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Rumors have spread that the wide receiver could be axed by the NFL team after 12 years.

Evans, 32, won the Super Bowl with the Buccaneers in 2021 as they triumphed over the Kansas City Chiefs.

EssentiallySports have claimed that he is now considering ending his time with the franchise.

It is stated that it is “50-50” whether or not he will re-sign with the Buccaneers.

The veteran has been hampered with injuries over the last two seasons.

As a result, he was only able to play in eight games in the 2025 season.

In that time he made 30 receptions for 368 yards and scored just three touchdowns.

As a former Super Bowl winner, Evans is likely to have plenty of interest from other teams in the NFL.

The New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills have been suggested as potential destinations for the star.

The report added that Evans would be keen on moving to a “contender and win another title”.

This would suggest that the Patriots and Bills would be strong candidates should they pursue him.

It is not the first time that Evans’ future at the Buccaneers has been thrown into doubt.

In the offseason of 2024 he had failed to agree on a contract extention wih the team.

This sparked rumors that he could be traded away from the team before he decided to play on for the next season.

He ultimately opted to sign a new two-year extension, which is now set to expire.

Evans later revealed that he had considered making the move to either the Chiefs or the Houston Texans.

The report has also suggested that the Buccaneers star is not the only wide receiver who could swap teams.

Indianapolis Colts star Alec Pierce is set to become a free agent if he does not re-sign.

Pierce, 25, joined the Colts in 2022 from the Cincinnati Bearcats as the 53rd overall pick in the draft.
