New England’s most unapologetic Patriots fan had a message after the Pats defeated the Texans Sunday to punch their ticket to the AFC title game.
“This is our year, our trophy, our title,” Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy said in a nearly minute-and-a-half celebration video he posted to X following the 28-16 divisional-round win.
The Patriots will now head to Denver to face the Broncos in the AFC Championship Game for a shot at reaching their first Super Bowl since the 2018 season, when the franchise captured its sixth title during the Bill Belichick and Tom Brady era.
The thought of returning to championship glory had the Barstool boss already dreaming of another trophy for the team’s trophy case.
“The most important thing at this stage of the game is you win and you advance,” Portnoy said in the video. “You win and you advance. We have two more games to go. Two down and two more to go. We travel to Denver, I know what they’re going to say. Oh, they don’t have the quarterback, this, that, listen, Mile High [Stadium] impossible place to play.
“Head down, get it going, this team has one more game. We’re back where we belong, the Super Bowl. This is our year, our trophy, our title. No apologies. The rest of the league is going to cry, they’re going to moan, they’re going to say the schedule and the Texans stink. C.J. Stroud, this [and that]. Nobody knows how to win in this league more than me and all Patriot fans and every player on that roster. We invented winning, so we don’t apologize.”
Portnoy ended his rant with a simple message.
“We survive and advance in the playoffs,” he continued. “We’ll see you next week. Super Bowl number seven here we come.”
The sports media personality may have another reason to root for the rebirth of the Patriots dynasty beyond just his fandom.
Portnoy also shared his massive bet that he placed on the Pats to win the Super Bowl, wagering $50,000 that would pay out nearly $2 million.
Portnoy wasn’t the only one spiking the football after the Patriots’ win on Sunday.
Drake Maye #10 of the New England Patriots looks to pass against the Houston Texans during the third quarter in the AFC Divisional Playoff game at Gillette Stadium on January 18, 2026 in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
Cardi B, the superstar rapper and girlfriend of Pats receiver Stefon Diggs, also took to social media to celebrate the victory, trolling the “NFL Live” crew, which had all picked the Texans to advance.
“What are ya’ll talking about?” Card B shouted in a video response posted on Sunday. “Nothing! Nothing!”
The Patriots toppled the Texans off the back of a three-touchdown pass performance by Drake Maye and a defense that forced Stroud to throw four interceptions.
The trip to the AFC title game is the franchise’s 16th.
