THE Detroit Lions fan who was involved in an altercation with DK Metcalf has denied using racial insults.
Lions fan Ryan Kennedy held a press conference with his lawyers on Friday to deny the accusations.
Lions fan Ryan Kennedy denied using racial slurs in his altercation with DK Metcalf
He was involved in an altercation with DK Metcalf during a game at Ford Field
He said he received death threats after the incident involving Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Metcalf.
It came after Metcalf appeared to swing a punch in his direction during a game between the Steelers and Lions at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
Metcalf was suspended for two games and will forfeit $555,556 in salary.
His suspension also voids $45 million in future guaranteed money, CBS Sports reported.
Kennedy told Detroit Free Press after the incident that he called Metcalf by his “Government name.”
The Lions fan’s conduct is also under review by the league.
But speaking at a press conference Friday, Kennedy denied allegations that he used racist terms.
He said, “I want to be crystal clear about one thing — I didn’t use any racial slurs, no hate speech, none of that stuff at the game.
“DeKaylin, if you’re watching this, man, just, if you could just say that please, like, my family is getting threats and stuff and it’s not cool.
“Whether you said that or not, I’m sure you didn’t want that to happen to the family.
“Even if you did, like, I forgive you, man.”
The bizarre press conference also confirmed that legal action is being considered.
Kennedy and his lawyers also asked Metcalf to clarify that he never used racial slurs.
Attorney Shawn Head also claimed that they contacted Metcalf’s team but have not heard back.
“Being falsely branded as a racist is one of the most damaging accusations that a private citizen can endure,” Head said.
“It’s dangerous and causes very real consequences and very real damage.”
