NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS quarterback Drake Maye has had a town named after him ahead of Super Bowl LX.
He’s not alone in having such an honor bestowed upon him as the Seattle Seahawks have also had a town name altered.
Two towns in the respective states of Massachusetts and Washington have been renamed ahead of the Super Bowl for a limited time only

Maye, 23, has taken the Patriots back to the big game in only his second year in the NFL.
In fact, he is the youngest quarterback to reach the Super Bowl since Miami Dolphins legend Dan Marino.
As a result of his formidable achievements, the Massachusetts town of Maynard will be renamed for one day only.
It doesn’t necessarily take a genius to guess that it’ll be called ‘Mayenard’ for the day.
The changing of the name was voted in unanimously by the town’s select board 4-0, in effect only for the day of Super Bowl LX, February 8.
Matching the energy of Mayenard, the mayor of the city of Hoquiam has also made a bold play.
The Washington town of Hoqiuam is naturally supporting their Seattle neighbours and star quarterback Sam Darnold.
And so, mayor Ben Winkelman has decided to get in on the action of town renaming as well.
Their mayoral proclamation read, “NOW THEREFORE, I, Ben Winkelman, Mayor of the City of Hoquiam, do hearby recgonize the honor and accomplishments of the Seattle Seahawks football team, its players and coaches.
“And do proclaim that the name of the City of Hoqiuam shall be temporarily changed to “Hawkuiam” for the week of February 1, 2026 through February 8, 2026.”
Yes, you read that correctly, the city has been called Hawkuiam since February 1 and will remain that until the Super Bowl concludes.
Moves like this are of a rarity even in NFL-strong cities and states.
The mayor of Tampa and devoted Buccaneers fan Jane Castor said in 2021 that she may rename the city after Tom Brady if they won the Super Bowl.
They of course did win that Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs, played at their home stadium.
Castor said that the city could be renamed ‘Tompa Bay’ if they won the Super Bowl in the COVID-19 affected season.
The idea of ‘Tampa Brady’ was also floated about but eventually nothing came of it.
