If you need a beauty recommendation in Chicago, ask Angel Reese.
The 23-year-old Sky star revealed in a post on X on Tuesday, Sept. 9 that she referred Bears quarterback Caleb Williams to her nail technician for a manicure that the NFL star sported in front of a national audience on Monday Night Football.
“Love this. My nail tech really wanted to do his nails & she KILLED it!” Reese wrote on X and reposted photos of Williams, 23, and his manicure, inspired by World Suicide Prevention Day on Sept. 10.
She added that she was “so proud” of her technician for working on the Bears star, who is well known for his nail art.
Williams’ manicure included multicolored nails featuring the official suicide prevention logo and the numbers 988, for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

In 2023, Williams remained confident about his nail art despite ridicule from online trolls.
“I think the nails thing kind of took everybody by surprise,” he told PEOPLE at the time. “I’ve been doing it before college, but it took everybody by surprise, just because you don’t always see male athletes who play football paint their nails. But I think it’s just another way of expression.”
Reese and Williams have been friends since before they were Chicago sports stars. Weeks after he was selected first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, Williams supported Reese and the Sky at a home game. Afterwards, Reese told reporters about the origin of her friendship with the NFL star.
“I know Caleb from back home, and having those kind of conversations talking about how we can turn the city up and do so many great things while we’re here,” she said at the time, per Yahoo Sports.
“It’s just great being able to bring that winning culture back to Chicago in all sports, not just football and baseball as well, but everybody.”
In an interview with NBC Chicago, also in May 2024, Reese was asked about their friendship.
“That’s my dog. Me and Caleb are cool,” she said, explaining that they both grew up in the Baltimore area and share mutual friends from home.
“We’re all from the DMV area, and just being able to have another DMV tie, another amazing player of his rookie class, we lit right now.”
The athletes show their support for each other on social media too.
Reese commented on Williams’ Aug. 23 Instagram post in which he said it was “good to be back at soldier w da boys n da bears” and shared a photo of himself gearing up for the new season.
“Put on for the city in our new city,” she wrote.
