Maye holds back tears after the Patriots’ loss to the Seahawks at Super Bowl LX

Maye, 23, struggled to get his words out after suffering a 29-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium yesterday.

Quarterback Maye struggled against a dominant Seahawks defense that silenced the Patriots throughout Super Bowl LX.

But the Patriots avoided a first-ever Super Bowl shutout as the game sprung into life during the fourth quarter.

Now Maye has expressed his pride after a stellar second season in the NFL.

He struggled through his statement as the quarterback held back the tears.

“I’m so proud,” Maye said. “That’s probably the reason I’m choked up most.

“This team is something that I’m just glad to be a part of.”

Maye was picked third overall by the Patriots during the 2024 NFL Draft.

This came after a three-year spell in college football with the North Carolina Tar Heels.

He has become a metronomic leader for the franchise after a rough first year.

The Patriots struggled to just four wins during the quarterback’s rookie campaign as they finished last in the AFC East.

But they were transformed overnight with the appointment of Mike Vrabel, 50, as head coach.

They topped their division before earning playoff wins against the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, and Denver Broncos.

Maye has explained that this is down to the individuals within the Patriots’ organization.

“It’s more than business, you know people in there that are doing it, you know, not for the money or fame,” Maye added. “That’s what’s cool about this.”

Quarterback Maye struggled against the Seahawks after suffering an injury scare ahead of the big game.

He played a bit-part role in Patriots practice in the build up to Super Bowl LX following his shoulder injury.

Maye appeared to still be struggling with his shoulder as he threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns against the Seahawks.
