Hurts could muster just 168 yards through the air and a single touchdown in the 23-19 loss.

As defending Super Bowl champions, the Eagles had been expected to make a strong run at the Lombardi.

But they ran into an inspired Niners defense, before collapsing in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles have been the subject of this season’s edition of HBO’s Hard Knocks.

And cameras were in the Philadelphia facility to capture the aftermath of the loss.

Hurts sat down for a chat with head coach Nick Sirianni in the series finale of the show.

“We’ll be back,” a defiant Hurts told Sirianni in the clip.

“I have no doubt,” came the reply from the Eagles head coach.

Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo was fired following the playoff exit.

“I have decided to make a change at offensive coordinator,” Sirianni wrote in a statement on Tuesday.

“I met with Kevin today to discuss the difficult decision, as he is a great coach who has my utmost respect.

“He has been integral to this team’s success over the last five years, not only to the on-field product but behind the scenes as a valued leader for our players and organization.

“I have no doubt he will continue to have a successful coaching career.

“Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals that responsibility lies on my shoulders.”

Hurts, a former Super Bowl MVP, struggled to reach his usual levels of consistence throughout the regular season.

He had two games in which he did not complete a single pass in the second half.

While his production on the ground – so often his strength – was down on the past three seasons.

Hurts managed just 421 rushing yards and 8 rushing scores, his lowest totals since his rookie season in 2020.
