The Dallas Cowboys are known for their wild trades, and that happened again right before the season started when they traded defensive end Micah Parsons in exchange for two first round picks from the Green Bay Packers and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
This was really the biggest move of the offseason, and it stole the show in the first week of the NFL’s regular season.
Green Bay is paying Parsons in the form of a four-year, $188 million dollar extension.
Parsons made it clear that he wasn’t a happy camper with the Cowboys towards the end of his time with the team. So, is he happy now?
Well, at first, it seemed like Parsons was finally getting the bag and respect that he longed for in Dallas, but some of her more recent comments show that he’s still upset about on aspect with his new team.
Micah Parsons Shows Frustration With the Green Bay Packers
After the Packers’ win over the Detroit Lions in the opening weekend of the NFL, one would think Parsons would be pumped. But, he didn’t seem to be happy.
Since Parsons was new to the team and was coming off a back issue, he was was given a questionable designation ahead of the game and wasn’t getting the play time that he craved.
“I just hope I’m full-go,” Parsons said. “Honestly, it’s pissing me off. I tell them it does more worse than good. I get tight and stuff.”
He added, “Hopefully they just let me off, man. Can’t hold a dog back forever.” So, the Packers will likely listen to Parsons and up his playing time this week, or else they’ll have a very unhappy, and expensive, star on their hands.
Parsons also talked about the Packers’ defense. “Best defense in the NFL is earned,” he said when asked if the Packers had claimed that title let. “It’s early to say. The best defenses do it consistently. Consistency equals greatness.”
He added, “We had a great start, so I’m just happy about that. We can be a great defense. It’s just up to us to continue to push and strive for that.”
The State of the Dallas Cowboys
Heading into this weekend’s game, the Cowboys face the New York Giants. In a piece published on Friday, September 12, by ESPN, the outlet’s experts discuss who they think will win the game. All of their crew picked the Cowboys to win.
“Maybe it’s too early for ‘must-win,’ but the Cowboys haven’t started 0-2 since 2010, and (Dak) Prescott has won 13 straight starts against the Giants, the second-longest winning streak against an opponent behind Miami’s Bob Griese beating Buffalo 17 straight from 1968 to 1979,” notes Todd Archer of ESPN.
Walder adds, “Giants RB Cam Skattebo will catch at least three passes. That’s a ton considering he played eight offensive snaps last week. But the Cowboys played zone coverage an almost preposterous 86% of the time against the Eagles, and running backs catch far more passes against zone than man.”
So, it’s nice to see that this crew thinks the Cowboys will pull off a win. Prescott is looking strong, and everything is possible.
