Hours after an accusation of violence made against newly hired Falcons coach LaTroy Lewis was made public Friday, Atlanta dismissed its assistant defensive line coach.
Reporter Justin Spiro detailed the allegations against Lewis, who was hired by the Falcons on Feb. 10, stemming from his time as an assistant coach at Michigan from 2023-24.
A woman alleges Lewis, 32, raped and attacked her in separate incidents, according to Spiro, who reported he sent her graphic messages “commanding her to perform various sexual acts on him.”
The allegations against LaTroy Lewis stem from his days on the Michigan staff.
The married father of three also supposedly sent her texts reading, “I’m going to f–k you up,” and “I’d f–king kill you! Don’t play with me.”
According to ESPN, Ann Arbor, Mich., police are investigating the sexual assault allegations levied against Lewis.
“Allegations of sexual misconduct are not proof of sexual misconduct. It is essential to pass judgment based on facts, and the facts are currently not being presented to the public,” said Lewis’ lawyer, Fabiola A. Galguera, in a statement. “Mr. Lewis intends to fiercely fight these false allegations with the support of his wife, family, and my team.”
Per Spiro’s report, when the anonymous woman brought his behavior to then-Michigan coach Sherrone Moore, he dismissed her allegations.
Moore was later fired in a high-profile incident that included him threatening to kill himself in front of a staff member with whom he was having an affair.

After Spiro’s report surfaced, the Falcons said they were aware of the allegations, and were “in the process of gathering information and will have no further comment at this time.”
Lewis is the latest former Michigan staffer to be facing legal problems. Moore is facing charges of felony home invasion and stalking charges over his Dec. 10 meltdown. Matt Weiss, fired in 2023 as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, was charged with a 24-count indictment in March 2025 over allegations he hacked into students’ computer accounts seeking intimate photos and videos over an eight-year span.
Lewis played collegiately at Tennessee from 2013-16 before brief NFL stints on the Texans and Raiders as an undrafted defensive lineman.
In 2020, the Ohio native moved into coaching, spending time on staffs at Akron, South Alabama and Wake Forest before joining Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines staff in 2023. He moved to Toledo in 2025 to become its defensive line coach.
A bio page for Lewis on the Falcons website, along with his inclusion on an offseason staff tracker, was removed Friday.
