Despite this, the Seattle Public Schools District have come down hard on any kids looking to skip class for the parade.

The Seahawks players and staff will parade the streets of Seattle on Wednesday with the Lombardi Trophy in full view.

However, Seattle public schools will remain open and the excuse of missing school for the parade will not be accepted.

The Seattle Schools’ statement read, “As the city plans celebrations, including a victory parade planned for Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m.

“We want families to know that Seattle Public Schools will remain open with the normal early-release Wednesday schedule.”

It then highlighted in bold about parade attendance not being considered “an excused absence.”

The decision comes as a major blow for young Seahawks fans, who will likely not remember the last Super Bowl they won 12 years ago.

Considering the recent precedent set by cities of Super Bowl-winning teams, It is an interesting call.

In each of the past three years, multiple schools and districts were closed on Super Bowl parade days in Kansas City and Philadelphia.

Young fans of the Chiefs and the Eagles got to witness the team parade around their city at least once.

It has stirred a considerable reaction on social media, with one fan saying, “Seattle schools forcing kids to attend during the Seahawks parade is peak bureaucracy.

“Let the kids celebrate too, they just won the Super Bowl. Sometimes you need to break routine for moments like this. Lighten up.”

Another said what many may do, “If I had a kid, they’re going to the parade. School will always be there.

“This could be once in a lifetime. It’s one day.”

The parade will kick off with or without the kids in tow at 10am PT starting at Lumen Field, the home of the Seahawks.

A trophy ceremony will be held there before the Seahawks embark on a parade along 4th Ave. in downtown Seattle at 11 a.m PT.
