THE Minnesota Vikings found themselves in a scary situation in the air.

The Minnesota Vikings team plane will not be taking the team to New York City this week.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, after take off the plane was forced to turn around and return to the airport.

The team released a statement following the scary incident.

“Shortly after departing, the team plane experienced mechanical issues that required a return to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport,” the statement said.

 

 

 

“The team will board a second plane momentarily and is now expected to arrive at Newark International Airport later tonight.”

Vikings cornerback Isaiah Rodgers also confirmed that the team was okay with a comment on Instagram.

The Vikings are scheduled to kick off at 1 pm ET against the New York Giants.

 

 

 

Fans couldn’t believe the situation the Vikings ended up in and shared their thoughts on social media.

“Could’ve been way worse. Grateful the crew caught it early and reacted perfectly, safety first, always,” one fan said.

“Crazy if an NFL plane ever went down,” another fan said.

 

 

 

“How does that even happen??!” a third fan said.

The Vikings are already eliminated from the playoffs, but are coming off of back-to-back wins.

 

 

They are looking to pick up a third against the Giants this week.

Their final two games of the season will come against the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions.
