The Kansas City Chiefs are predicted to announce that they will be moving away from their iconic Arrowhead Stadium and across state lines.

The Kansas City Chiefs front office have spent much of the 2025 NFL season debating whether to stay at Arrowhead Stadium or not.
Arrowhead is considered the loudest outdoor stadium in the world, and has served as a huge home advantage for the recent Chiefs dynasty spearheaded by Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce on the field, and Andy Reid on the sidelines.

It looks more and more likely that the Chiefs will be leaving the iconic Arrowhead Stadium
However, with speculation of the team leaving Missouri and crossing state borders to Kansas having ramped up in recent months, it appears as though a decision may have finally been made, and is just awaiting official confirmation.
According to Sportsradio 810 WHB’s Soren Petro, a meeting has been scheduled to be held in Topeka, Kansas on Monday.
Following the conclusion of that meeting, with which the Chiefs’ brass are expected to be in attendance, Petro believes that an announcement regarding where the team will be playing their football in the future will follow in due course.
“There is a meeting scheduled in Topeka on Monday. I’m being told the Chiefs are scheduled to be at that meeting, however the Royals are not,” Petro wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
“Barring a last minute “screw up by someone at the top” announcing the Chiefs are moving to Kansas will happen after that meeting.”
It is not yet clear what this would mean for the future of Kansas’ MLB team, the Kansas City Royals, who could be facing homelessness after the potential breakup of their 53-year partnership with the Chiefs.
Some NFL fans, though, are not buying into Petro’s theory that the Chiefs will announce their relocation.
“😄Just a ratings grab by Soren here. The Chiefs won’t be announcing a move to Kansas. Donovan will likely meet with Kansas officials to look at stadium proposals near Kansas Speedway. Chiefs gotta play this to squeeze more $$$$ out of Missouri and KC,” one user commented on X.
“Yeah. I dont buy it. But ill let yall worry about it. I dont think theyre moving,” another user wrote.
Others, though, have ridiculed the prospect of the Hunt family moving the team away from Arrowhead.
“Yall do realize tickets will now be unaffordable? No stadium advantage (Noise) and goodbye to the best tailgating experience cause I guarantee the parking lot gone be little asf. History down the drain,” one fan commented.

Arrowhead Stadium may no longer be in the NFL as the Chiefs are predicted to move away

Mahomes and Kelce have seen huge success in Arrowhead, especially in the playoffs
“Yes let’s leave the second most historical stadium in the NFL for NO REASON. What a joke,” a second wrote.
“I’m probably one of the few patrons of this app that was alive when Arrowhead opened. It feels like a betrayal and a death in the family,” a third said.”
“How do you let 2 major league franchises just walk.. the revenue and everything generated from this is insane to me. Not every city state gets one of these franchises and you just let them walk away. Crazy way to drop the bag state of Missouri,” another commented.
Official decision is expected imminently after months of speculation
With plans for a new $3 billion domed stadium having been drawn up, an alternative proposal from Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe suggested that the team undergo transformational renovations to Arrowhead, including adding a retractable roof to it.
However, it was estimated that these renovations would cost almost as much as building from the ground up on a new location out of the state.
Back in November, it was projected that the Chiefs brass would announce their final decision either at the end of 2025, or the beginning of 2026.
With Kansas City now having been officially ruled out of contention for the NFL playoffs, and franchise quarterback Mahomes having suffered a devastating torn ACL which required immediate surgery, the timeline to announce their plans for a new stadium falls in line with that of Petro’s prediction.
Whether they ultimately decide to move out of Missouri to Kansas City, though, is uncertain, but all is finally expected to be revealed imminently.
