If Tom Brady had an MVP vote, Drake Maye would not get it.
The former Patriots star revealed Sunday that Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford — not Maye — would be his choice for the NFL’s top honor this season.
“What Matthew Stafford has done this season has been absolutely remarkable,” Brady said while talking with Rob Gronkowski on Fox. “Forty-six touchdowns, that’s — for any quarterback, that’s a dream season. So, he’s been spectacular.
Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford has led the Rams to a 12-5 record while recording 4,707 passing yards, 46 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
“Drake Maye, on the other side, has done some incredible things with Josh McDaniels in their first year together. Drake’s got a long career ahead, I’m sure he’s going to have many opportunities.
“But I would say Matthew Stafford.”
The two signal-callers are widely regarded as the favorites for the 2025 award.
Stafford has led the Rams to a 12-5 record while throwing for 4,707 yards, 46 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Maye, meanwhile, has the Patriots sitting at 14-3 after he recorded 4,394 passing yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Stafford’s coach, Sean McVay, made it clear following Los Angeles’ home win Sunday that he believed his signal-caller should get the MVP nod when he gave the quarterback a game ball for passing Dan Marino on the NFL’s all-time passing touchdown list.
Matthew Stafford moved ahead of Dan Marino into sixth place on the NFL’s all-time passing touchdown list on Sunday.
“No f—king doubt,” McVay said, “our f—king MVP. Let’s go, Matthew Stafford.”
The league will officially announce the winner of the award at NFL Honors on Feb. 5.
