Darian Mensah, 21, has committed to Miami, according to ESPN.

He joins after a legal battle with Duke University.

Mensah entered the NCAA transfer portal after the conclusion of the 2025 college football season.

The quarterback had spent a single season with the Blue Devils after transferring from the Tulane Green Wave.

But Duke attempted to make Mensah honor his Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) contract with the college.

A 44-page lawsuit was filed against the redshirt sophomore quarterback at the Durham County Superior Court.

Quarterback Mensah had allegedly agreed to remain with the Blue Devils until the end of the 2026 season.

Mensah was not able to join a new team until a North Carolina judge had ruled on the case.

But this has now been resolved.

A statement has been released by Mensah’s agency, Young Money APAA Sports, to explain the quarterback’s situation update.

“Through close collaboration and principled negotiation, we have successfully navigated an unprecedented path,” the statement said on X.

“One that has now reached a fair and mutually agreeable resolution.”

Mensah led Duke to nine wins from 14 games during the 2025 college football season.

This included a 42-39 Sun Bowl win against the Arizona Sun Devils.

He threw 3,973 yards and 34 touchdowns for the Blue Devils during their 2025 campaign.

Meanwhile, Miami suffered defeat in the College Football Playoff Championship game against Indiana.

The Hurricanes suffered a 27-21 loss to the Hoosiers at Hard Rock Stadium.

Mensah is set to take over at quarterback from Carson Beck, 23.
