The message will also be on show at the Super Bowl

THE NFL have the words “Choose Love” displayed during the Divisional Round matches this weekend.

The phrase is clearly visible in all four matches with the Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots and LA Rams among those in action.

‘Choose Love’ is being displayed in both end zones

“Choose Love” is displayed in the end zones and all four stadiums.

And it is written on the helmets of every player.

Why is ‘Choose Love’ being displayed in NFL Divisional Round matches?

The phrase is being used to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19.

The message is closely associated with the iconic civil rights leader despite him not directly saying it.

King actually said: “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

What have the NFL said about the gesture?

NFL’s senior vice president of social responsibility Anna Isaacson said: “Dr. King’s message continues to guide how we show up in meaningful moments across the league.

“‘Choose Love’ has become an important and widely embraced message for our teams because it reflects the values Dr. King championed, dignity, empathy and a commitment to our shared humanity.

“Bringing it forward in the divisional round and again at Super Bowl LX reflects that continued relevance.”

‘Choose Love’ and ‘It takes all of us’ will be on show at opposite end zones at next month’s Super Bowl in California.
