There’s really only one word to describe Haason Reddick‘s 2024 season: disaster. Before signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Reddick burned a couple of bridges with both the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets.
With just one week left before his debut with the Buccaneers, former sports agent Joel Corry issued a warning to Reddick.
Haason Reddick Fighting for Another Payday
Haason Reddick has spent the past two years watching top edge rushers like Myles Garrett, T.J. Watt, Trey Hendrickson, and most recently, Micah Parsons, cash in on career-high deals.
Unfortunately, he’s been moving in the opposite direction.
After signing a three-year, $45 million deal with the Eagles ahead of the 2022 season, Reddick produced the best two seasons of his career.
He recorded 27 sacks across the 2022 and 2023 seasons, including a career-high 16 in 2022.
As a result, he earned consecutive Pro Bowl nods, a 2nd-Team All-Pro selection and even a fourth-place finish for 2022 Defensive Player of the Year.
But, if the soon-to-be-31-year-old is looking for another big payday, he’ll need to make a splash for the Buccaneers this season.
The Buccaneers are Reddick’s third team in three seasons, which is never a great sign. Unfortunately, a contract dispute completely derailed the 2024 offseason for Reddick.
Following a 90-day holdout, which cost him a massive amount in fines, Reddick was a shell of himself. After recording double-digit sacks in four consecutive seasons, Reddick played just 57% of the team’s snaps.
He recorded just one sack and 14 total tackles across the final 10 games.
Former sports agent Joel Corry put it bluntly on Friday, writing that if Reddick wanted any chance of “changing his financial fortunes,” he’ll have to show that last season was “an anomaly.”
Buccaneers Head Coach Todd Bowles Says Reddick Has ‘Just Fit Right In’
Back when Haason Reddick began his career with the Arizona Cardinals, he started out as an off-ball linebacker.
Reddick experienced some success during his first three seasons, recording 7.5 sacks and 192 tackles. But, something was missing.
After moving to edge rusher, Reddick went on a special run. He started out by recording 12.5 sacks during the final year of his rookie deal. Then, he rattled off three more seasons in a row with double-digit sacks.
As Buccaneers Senior Writer/Editor Scott Smith noted on August 1, Reddick’s production measured up against the best at the position during that four-year stretch.
“Over those four seasons, his 50.5 sacks ranked fourth in the NFL, behind only T.J. Watt, Myles Garrett and Trey Hendrickson in that span,” Scott noted.
Now, the Buccaneers are banking on Reddick returning to a similar level of production in 2025. Based on his performance throughout this summer, Todd Bowles is confident that he’ll make it happen.
“He fit right in,” said Bowles. “The first day he came, he just fit right in. He picked up the scheme very well coming into minicamp.
He picked it up very well. He talks to the guys, he communicates with them well, he has a great relationship with all of the guys up front. It’s like he’s been here the whole time.”
The Buccaneers have a lot riding on this season, considering their status as fringe Super Bowl contenders.
They also have two of the top 10 free agents in the 2026 class in Mike Evans and Luke Goedeke. But, there’s probably no player with more to lose than Reddick.
