Quarterback could earn up to $19m with incentives at the Steelers

AARON Rodgers apparently turned down more money than he was offered by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He ended months of speculation about his future after being released by the New York Jets in March.
The quarterback is guaranteed to earn $10 million from the deal.
And incentives mean it could possibly be worth up to $19.5 million.
But former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Bryant McFadden claimed the team were ready to pay more.
The 43-year-old two-time Super Bowl champion is now an analyst for CBS.And he said on 93.7 The Fan that Rodgers turned down a bigger wage.
“It wasn’t about money because they are giving him around $13 million or something like that,” McFadden said.
“And I got word that he actually could have gotten more, but that’s what he wanted.
“They were willing to offer more.
“It would have been a situation where they were willing to pay him more than what he’s actually receiving.

“But Aaron was like, ‘No, man, this is what I would take and I just wanna play ball.’”That tells me this is a guy that’s all in. I love that. That’s what our team was about when I was there.”
Rodgers has earned $380 million during his legendary NFL career which has spanned two decades.
He won a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers and is a four-time Most Valuable Player.
But his two seasons with the New York Jets went horribly wrong.
Rodgers tore his Achilles just four plays into his debut in 2023.
And last season the Jets managed just five wins when they held playoff hopes before the year began.
Rodgers said his decision to join the Steelers was one made for his soul.
The quarterback said, “A lot of decisions that I’ve made over my career and life from strictly the ego, even if they turn out well, are always unfulfilling.
“But the decisions made from the soul are usually pretty fulfilling.”This was a decision that was best for my soul.”
