“He is 100 percent invested,” said Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier when asked about WR Tyreek Hill‘s offseason.
The superstar wide receiver was voted a team captain after a tumultuous offseason that included domestic violence allegations and wrist surgery.
His status with the team has been brought into question through all of this, but Grier reiterated their commitment to him and emphasized his renewed energy throughout training camp.
“Yeah whatever the players decide on the voting — that’s up to them,” Grier said when asked what his thoughts were on Hill’s captaincy.
“But Tyreek has been, like I told you, unbelievable since the whole offseason when he got his wrist surgery. He’s been unbelievable.”
It’s a ringing endorsement for Hill from one of the most important figures in the Dolphins’ organization.
He’s had an embattled offseason, but remains one of the premier talents in the NFL. If the Dolphins want to get back to the playoffs, they’ll need him.

“He’s been around every day, he’s worked tirelessly with his team,” Grier said.
“I think he’s closer to a lot of his teammates than he’s ever been — that’s just me, personally, watching his interactions.
You’ve seen him at the joint practices, on the sidelines during games, like he is 100-percent invested.”
“In the joint practices, when they’re talking smack to the other teams, [he’s] in the middle, when things are happening,” Grier continued.
“It’s been fun to watch. His teammates are all 100-percent behind him. I know everyone’s making comments about him and [Dolphins QB] Tua [Tagovailoa], but those two have been closer than I’ve seen them ever before.
So it’s been really cool watching him embrace his teammates and them embrace him. So it’s been really cool.”
The Miami Dolphins Need to Get Back to Their Creative Offensive Ways
When head coach Mike McDaniel was first hired and Tagovailoa, Hill, and WR Jaylen Waddle were tearing up the NFL, the Dolphins were one of the best offenses in the league.
They made the playoffs in McDaniel’s first two seasons, but they missed the postseason last year and haven’t won a playoff game in McDaniel’s tenure.
2025 is a critical year for this administration. If Miami falls flat again in an open AFC playoff race, Grier and McDaniel could be out of their jobs.
This offensive core remains strong behind Tagovailoa, Hill, Waddle, and RB De’Von Achane. But the defense will be a work in progress all year and the offensive line has significant concerns once again.
Hill remains a nightmare for defenses to cover, especially when combined with Waddle and Achane. Based on Grier’s comments, he’s more committed to winning than ever.
