Former longtime Houston Texan and NFL Hall of Famer Andre Johnson had his home “ransacked,” with burglars taking sentimental football-related items from the residence, according to a report from the Houston NBC TV affiliate.
Houston police told KPRC-TV that Johnson’s Pro Football Hall of Fame ring is among the items stolen from his greater Houston area home.
Johnson, 44, reported the burglary to police and advised them on July 29 that he would like to pursue criminal charges in the case.
When police arrived at Johnson’s house they found a broken window and several football items sentimental to the former All-Pro wide receiver missing, as well as his jewelry, the report said.
Houston Native Lil’ Keke Broke the News About the Burglary at Andre Johnson’s Home

CANTON, OHIO – AUGUST 03: Andre Johnson speaks during the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony at Tom Benson Hall Of Fame Stadium on August 03, 2024 in Canton, Ohio.
Houston legend, rapper Lil’ Keke, first made the burglary public on July 27, when he posted to Instagram that “somebody broke into (Johnson’s) home.”
“Over the weekend, someone broke into my brother’s home and took some items that represent his legacy, represent his dedication, his hard work, his family,” said Lil’ Keke, who was awarded with a lifetime achievement award from former U.S. President Barack Obama in 2016. “We need to recover that and get that back.
This isn’t like a car or a jersey hanging around. This represents his career and his family, for real.
“He’s the first Houston Texans Hall of Famer. He dedicated his life here, his career here, and also he resides here as a Houstonian.
That makes it much, much more important. Man, we family. It’s a family message.”
Johnson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2024 in Canton, Ohio.
He received the nod during his third year of eligibility. Like Lil’ Keke, Johnson is known for his philanthropic efforts.
Johnson was an NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year finalist in 2014, which highlighted his efforts to give holiday shopping sprees to children in Child Protective Services.
For Thanksgiving, he gave out turkeys to families in need in Houston.
During his rookie season, Johnson founded The Andre Johnson Charitable Foundation.
Andre Johnson Was Elite From the Beginning
The Texans first-round pick in 2003, Johnson was drafted out of the University of Miami.
He was born and raised in Miami. He played 12 seasons for Houston, was named to seven Pro Bowls, two All-Pro teams, and led the NFL in catches twice and receiving yards twice.
Johnson left Houston after the 2014 season and had brief stints with the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans before retiring in 2016.
He finished his career with 1,062 catches for 14,185 yards and 70 touchdowns.
In addition to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Johnson is a part of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, the Houston Sports Hall of Fame and the Texans’ Ring of Honor.
Although Johnson has been attending Texans training camp practices in recent weeks, he has not publicly commented on the burglary.
Several high-profile athletes have had their homes burglarized in recent years, including Travis Kelce, Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Mike Conley Jr. and Luka Doncic.
