George picked the wrong game to have an off night.
During the “Thursday Night Football” contest between the Cowboys and Lions, which yielded 74 points, Dallas wideout George Pickens was hardly a fixture in his team’s loss, even after star teammate CeeDee Lamb left with a concussion.
Pickens has since landed squarely in the middle of a public feud with Richard Sherman, after the former All-Pro cornerback and current Prime Video analyst lit into the controversial receiver for what he considered a lackluster effort.
Sherman called Pickens “uninterested,” accused him of fading in big moments and questioned whether teams could trust him with a massive contract, saying top receivers “don’t get to disappear” when their team needs them the most.

George Pickens was held to five catches for 37 yards on Thursday.
Pickens had only five catches for 37 yards in the loss to Detroit in a game where Dallas desperately needed him to step up after their top receiver exited.
But Pickens didn’t stay quiet for too long.
The receiver fired back on social media in a post he later deleted, calling Sherman a “p—y ass” and accusing him of exaggerating the situation for attention.
The message didn’t stay up long, but not before screenshots circulated widely.
“Lots of shh has to go right for. Explosive. Plays,” Pickens wrote in a since-deleted Instagram story on Friday. “… and it’s funny cause I thought former players would know that such as. RICHARD P—Y ASS SHERMAN WHO BTW AINT SHH WITHOUT THE LEGION OF BOOM WE ALL REMEMBER SAN FRANCISCO BROTHER..”
Pickens was seemingly referring to Sherman’s stint in San Francisco from 2018-20, although the corner was an All-Pro and Pro Bowler in 2019.

Richard Sherman talks on the set of “TNF” on Prime Video.
Sherman also played with the Buccaneers before retiring after the 2021 season.
During the “TNF” postgame show, Sherman tore into Pickens.
“George Pickens, throughout the game, especially late in the game, looked uninterested,” Sherman said. “Uninterested in playing football. And that’s what you can’t have. If you’re going to be a superstar, if you want to be the best receiver in the National Football League, you can’t ever be disengaged. It doesn’t matter if the game is going your way or not going your way, you can’t just disappear in these games or else you’re not going to have impact.

George Pickens dives in an attempt to complete a catch against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on December 4, 2025 in Detroit, Michigan.
“You’re the guy, CeeDee Lamb is not in this game, he’s out, and you get intercepted on your slant routes, and you can’t be the guy and you half-ass it. I’m sorry, it’s unacceptable and if you’re looking at him and you’re looking to pay him big-time receiver money, $40 million, you got to look at this tape and say, ‘Hey, this is a guy we can trust to pay $40 million regardless of circumstance?’ I don’t know.”
On Friday afternoon, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said he will talk with Pickens about what went down on social media.
“I’m aware of what was supposedly put out there,” Schottenheimer said Friday. “I’ve not talked to him yet. I understand it’s been taken down, but I will be talking to him, just checking on him. Again, this is unfortunately things that we deal with in this profession. But I have not spoken to him, but I will.”
