The school’s joking tweet didn’t get many laughs among the Swifties

Talk about Bad Blood!
Taylor Swift’s notoriously fierce and loyal fanbase called out the University of Nebraska on Thursday, Aug. 28 after the school shared a mocking post on X showing their mascot photoshopped in place of her fiancé Travis Kelce in their engagement photo.
The teasing photo — which showed the school’s corn-husking mascot “Herbie Husker” caressing Swift, 35 — went up following Nebraska’s 20-17 win over Kelce’s alma mater, the University of Cincinnati.
After Nebraska beat Cincinnati in front of Kelce and Swift — who made their post-engagement debut at the game — at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium, the school’s official athletic account shared the post on X.
“Change of plans,” the post read.
But the joke didn’t get too many laughs from the Swifites online.
Swift’s fans called out Nebraska for the trolling post — with some calling it “disgusting” and “inconsiderate” towards the “Bad Blood” singer, according to responses to the post archived by USA Today.
“The ill-advised post on the @Huskers X account last night resulted in very strong responses and comments that took the attention away from the game and our football team,” a spokesperson for the university’s athletic department told PEOPLE. “We made the decision to remove the post and focus on our season opening victory in a great environment.”

Kelce and Swift were both in attendance for Thursday night’s game, which took place at the Chiefs’ home Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.
Swift donned a white outfit while Kelce sported a matching white-collared shirt and a red and white University of Cincinnati baseball hat.
But it was the new jewelry on Swift’s ring finger that caught the attention of most as she walked in the stadium among crowds of fans shouting their congratulations to the newly engaged couple.

“Taylor and Travis have been in celebration mode ever since the engagement,” a source close to the Kelce family told PEOPLE this week.
“They are not in the wedding planning phase yet. Right now they just want to enjoy being engaged and they are going to take their time with it.”
The source added: “It has been a relief not having to keep it a secret anymore and they are glad it is out in the open. Both families are overjoyed. There were toasts, happy tears and everyone is thrilled for them.”
