Shipley’s wife Sunny Leigh has provided an update on his health

Shipley was working on a machine when it burst into flames on Tuesday.

He was airlifted to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Shipley’s wife Sunny Leigh has posted a lengthy update on his condition, with her husband in “a lot of pain.”

“I am nothing but humbled by the love and support from our family, friends and the most amazing community in the world Burnet, Texas,” she wrote on Facebook.

“Jordan did as well as he could overnight. I was thankful to be able to be with him even though he’s not able to communicate yet.

“He’s in a lot of pain, as expected.

“So they are keeping him sedated and comfortable.

“At the moment they are taking another look at his burns and looking at his lungs again before they can remove his breathing tube.”

Shipley was rushed to hospital by a fellow ranch worker.

Sunny Leigh revealed he was “in the middle of nowhere” when the fire struck.

“We don’t know exactly what happened yet but, from what we’ve gathered so far, it’s an absolute miracle that he is still here with us,” she continued.

“His God given stubborn will, athletic ability and pain tolerance is why he is still here with us.

“He was in the middle of nowhere and any other person would’ve gone into shock.

“He somehow made it to the only other person out there who was over 10 miles away. Praise be to God.”

“The main concern at this moment are his hands, keeping infection away and his kidney function,” she added.

“We will take this day to day and I will try to update when I can because I know that there are so many that love Jordan.

“I know he’s got a long hard recovery ahead, but if anyone can do it.. he can. Please keep praying. We so covet them. We love you all.”

Shipley was a star wide receiver for the Texas Longhorns in college.

He played for the school between 2006 and 2009, and also ran track in the 100m and 200m.

Shipley was drafted by the Bengals in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft.

He spent four years in the league before chronic knee injuries forced his retirement in 2014.
