Jerry Jones was clear when asked if he is considering trading Micah Parsons after the player requested to leave the Dallas Cowboys.
Additionally, the owner joked that a trade isn’t possible because the player is dealing with a back injury.
“I’m not (considering a trade). I don’t really place that with any real seriousness.
Micah’s got a bad back. That’s like being traded. That’s negotiation. I’ve heard that so many times in my 30 years in the NFL. Not just from players, but agents.”
Jones has already given contract extensions to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, but Parsons still hasn’t reached a deal with the team.
It’s a very complicated situation with the salary cap, since the Cowboys would have three players earning at least $35 million per year.
Will Cowboys trade Micah Parsons?
Jerry Jones assured that the Cowboys are not going to trade Micah Parsons and that the player’s request to leave Dallas is part of any negotiation.
He said nothing surprises him after more than 30 years in the NFL and hinted that the issue of Parsons’ back problems is a very important factor.
“We all understand contracts. We’re under contract. That’s what we’re doing. We’re looking at adjusting the contract, but we’re under contract.
That’s the way the rules are set up. That is old stuff. 30 years of old stuff some of these issues we’re hearing about. Trading, hurt backs and all that kind of stuff.”
