Tragedy strikes as 14-year-old football star is shot dead near elementary school, with police launching urgent manhunt for suspect on the run
A BELOVED high school football player has been shot dead near a local elementary school as police search for the killer.
A Southern California community is grieving the tragic shooting of a teenage football player.

Jeremy Rosales, 14, was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the street last Friday, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The shooting happened just before 8:30 pm near the intersection of Glen Canyon Lane and Burwood Avenue in Victorville, a residential neighborhood adjacent to Mojave Vista Elementary School of Cultural Arts, where the teenage victim lived with his family.
“Deputies arrived and located Jeremy Rosales, a 14-year-old male, in the street suffering from gunshot wounds,” SBSD investigators said, per KTLA5.
“Rosales was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.”
Then, on Monday, the sheriff’s department said, “No arrest has been made and unfortunately, nothing else is being released.
“As soon as we can, we will provide an update.”
The department’s Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, has assumed the case, the outlet added.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family get through the horrific situation and noted how “his loss has shaken our community to its core.”
Rosales was referred to as “Tank” by his teammates and coaches at Team Elite Sports Academy and Oak Hills High School.
As of Monday night, the GoFundMe has raised $11,427 out of its $12,000 goal.
“He developed a great name in the trenches because he was such a beast,” Rosales’ coach, Elliott Reyes, told KTLA.
“He worked hard in the weight room, on the field.
“He was your typical student athlete you would love to have in your program.”
Reyes described Rosales as a ‘straight A student’ and added that he was far from the kind of person to be getting himself into trouble.
A vigil to honor Rosales is set for Monday evening in Hesperia, per a Facebook post.
