The Los Angeles Rams are hoping that Davante Adams is what their offense has been missing. Their Week 1 showdown against the Houston Texans is the first opportunity they will have to see.
If his recent social media post is any indication, Adams is ready.
Adams offered a reminder on Instagram that it was “game week.” That was the caption on an image of himself set to the Gunna song, “Biting My Game.”
It is a fitting tone-setting message for Adams to kick off his first campaign with the Rams.
Davante Adams Shares ‘Game Week’ Message Ahead of Rams Regular-Season Debut

Adams is expected to bring a vertical element to the Rams’ offense. His durability and consistent production bode well for that being the case.
He has logged five straight 1,000-yard seasons and reached that benchmark in six of his last seven campaigns.
Adams has two other campaigns in which he recorded 997 yards. He has also started at least 14 games in eight of his 11 seasons as a pro.
Encouragingly for the Rams, Adams has not lost his fire.
Rams HC Sean McVay: Davante Adams a ‘Hall of Famer’

Rams head coach Sean McVay has raved about Adams since the latter arrived in free agency.
That continued on Monday. Asked about Adams’ ability to vary his speed on his routes, McVay lauded the veteran for understanding the “timing and rhythm” of their plays.
McVay noted that Adams’ ability to “change his paces and false accelerate” does not prevent him from being “in sync with the quarterback.”
“That’s part of what makes him so unique is he’s obviously really gifted to be able to separate, but he’s really gifted above the neck and understanding how our pass game is tied up with the quarterback’s drops.
What does that internal clock go off in his head? Are there different things where he’s got a couple different decisions that he can make?” McVay told reporters on September 1.
“It’s really what makes him so special is he understands how to be able to play within the timing and rhythm while also being able to create separation and make those catches so that it can be aligned with how we coach a lot of these concepts up. And his ability to be able to do that is one of the things that makes him a unique player that, you know, I think, is a Hall of Famer.”
Adams will get his first opportunity to prove his mettle for the Rams against the Texans.
Davante Adams Gets Good News for Week 1

Adams signed a two-year, $44 million contract with the Rams in free agency this past offseason, but the only work he has gotten with new quarterback Matthew Stafford is in practice.
Neither player logged a snap during the preseason. That will change on Sunday against the Texans.
In addition to saying he expects Stafford to practice all week, McVay said he expects the two-time Pro Bowler to start against Houston.
“He’ll be good,” McVay said.
Stafford and Adams have shown a strong early connection in the Rams’ practices. But different and legitimate defensive game plans will put that chemistry to the test, particularly when plays break down.
That is when both players have historically been at their best, though.
