Robert Redford’s grandchildren took to social media to share sweet tributes to their grandpa following his death.
Shortly after his death on Tuesday, September 16, at the age of 89, Redford’s grandson, Conor Schlosser, the son of Redford’s daughter Shauna Redford, wrote an emotional Instagram post in honor of his famous grandfather.
“He was larger than life to the world, but to his family, he was simply that…family,” Conor, 33, said.
“Rest in peace, Grandpa. 🐎If anyone has a favorite story of him you’d like to share, please send it to me in a private massage—I’d love to collect them.”
In Conor’s post, he included several never-before-seen photos of the actor, including him sitting behind Conor while riding on a horse, Robert opening a gift while Conor sits next to him on the couch, the duo playing golf together when Conor was little and a couple snaps of Conor all-grown-up with his grandfather.
Another one of Robert’s grandchildren, Lena Redford, the daughter of the late David James “Jamie” Redford, also shared rare pictures of her grandpa in an Instagram post.
The first photo, similar to Conor’s, showed Robert behind Lena, now 29, on a horse, while the second included her brother, Dylan Redford, and her on a set that Robert was seemingly directing.
The last photos included a throw-back memory of Robert smiling while hugging Lena, a picture of Lena with Robert and his wife, Sibylle Szaggars Redford, and a photo of her, her dad and Robert.

The Oscar winning actor and director died at his home in Utah on Tuesday, according to a statement to The New York Times from his publicist, Cindi Berger.
His rep confirmed that he died in his sleep but did not provide a specific cause of death.
Robert gained attention for his Broadway performance in Barefoot in the Park, which led to a 1967 film version, costarring Jane Fonda.
He started making more of a name for himself following his role as the Sundance Kid in the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Throughout the 70s and 80s, Robert starred in several films, including 1973’s The Way We Were, 1974’s The Great Gatsby, 1980’s Brubaker and 1984’s The Natural.
Robert made his directorial debut with Ordinary People in 1980, going on to win the Academy Award for Best Director.
He also founded the Sundance Institute in 1980, which later began hosting the Sundance Film Festival.
Robert is survived by his wife Sibylle, whom he tied the knot with in 2009. Although the couple had no children together, Robert shared four children — Scott (who died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), Shauna, David (who died in 2020) and Amy — from his previous marriage to Lola Van Wagenen.
