The Green Bay Packers are preparing for the 2025 NFL season with Jordan Love as their starting quarterback, backed by head coach Matt LaFleur.

The team aims to build on the progress shown last season and start strong from the preseason onward.

In recent hours, the Packers announced that Love will undergo surgery on one of his hands to repair a ligament in his left thumb, but his recovery is expected to be brief. However, concerns about his availability remain a real issue.

LaFleur has addressed the media about Love’s situation and shared when he expects to have him available. Love’s health is a key factor for the Packers, who want to avoid setbacks that could impact their offensive performance.

LaFleur’s comments on Love’s surgery

“From what I’ve been understanding, it’s a pretty relatively quick recovery.

So, hopefully we’ll be able to get him back out in some capacity sometime next week to work on and work through, because I’ve never personally dealt with a situation like this,” LaFleur said to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

LaFleur also said it’s “highly unlikely” Love will play any more preseason snaps this year.

“So there’s going to be some learning curve along the way in terms of how do we adapt and how do we adjust,” LaFleur added.

What’s next for the Packers in the preseason

The Packers have played one preseason game so far, losing 30-10 to the New York Jets at Lambeau Field. During this game, Love suffered the injury to his left thumb. Meanwhile, Green Bay will also face the Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks to complete their preseason schedule.
