DONALD TRUMP has once again taken to social media to speak out against the NFL’s new kick-off rules.
The NFL introduced the revamped “Dynamic kick-off” rules ahead of the 2024 season in order to address concerns surrounding player safety.

The edits changed the face of NFL kick-offs, with perhaps the most notable adjustment being that teams cannot move until the ball has landed or has been touched by a returner.
Kickers line up on their own 35-yard line, but their team-mates set up on the opponents’ 40, closing the gap between defense and offense in an attempt to reduce the speed at which collisions occur.
Kick-offs would previously have seen teams colliding in numbers in some of the hardest clashes in the sport due to the time and distance both teams had to get up to top speed.
But Trump is not a fan of the initiative, arguing it takes excitement and “power” out of what used to be a spectacle to watch.
He uploaded a post slamming the new rule during the NFC Championship game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
Trump wrote on truth social: “I can’t watch the new NFL Kick-off.
“Like many others, I just turn my head. Who has the right to make such a change?
“So disparaging to the game! The original was Big Time, Strong, Glamorous, and Exciting.
“The ridiculous new Kickoff Rule takes away the prestige and power of the game. I hope College Football doesn’t follow suit!”
The new regulations have also placed restrictions on how teams line up for a kick-off and attempted to incentivise kicking long without ending up in the end zone.
Per the NFL’s website, the changes aim to “Resemble a typical scrimmage play by aligning players on both teams closer together and restricting movement to reduce space and speed.”
The President’s recent outburst was not the first time he has spoken out against the adjusted kick-off rules.
He called into ESPN’s Pat McAfee Show in November to further slam the changes, referring to them as “demeaning.”
He said: “I think it’s so terrible. I think it’s so demeaning, and I think it hurts the game. It hurts the pageantry.
“[The NFL] do what they want to do, but I don’t think they’ll change.”
He added: “It’s so bad. It’s so bad. It’s so unromantic, and it just is demeaning to football. I don’t think they have a right to do that to the game.”
