As a result, her spot at the Winter Olympics – which starts on February 6 – were plunged into doubt.
The Dutch skater has now revealed that she is still “likely” to be in Milan for the Olympics.
However, she will not be competing in the 1,000m event and only in the 500m.
Leerdam also took a moment to acknowledge all the messages she has had from fans in her message on Instagram.
She wrote: “I will most likely see you at the Olympics in Milan for the 500m.
“A very unfortunate moment during my best distance, the 1,000m on Friday.
“Now we wait and hope I get the opportunity to skate the distance I’ve won multiple World Cup golds in this season.
“I’m still in shock, I never had my messages flooded like this before.
“I feel everyone’s support so much and I’m very grateful for that.
“I read everything and I appreciate it more than you know.”
Leerdam will be disappointed not to be competing in the 1,000m race as it is considered her best event.
Her crash occurred as she lost her footing and slid into the barriers, immediately ending her qualification hopes.
YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul was in the stands watching on just a week after his knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua.
