Mahomes’ moment involved one of his running backs

NFL fans noticed Travis Kelce and Gardner Minshew’s interaction at the Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp after a Patrick Mahomes moment with a teammate.

The Chiefs players were spotted sharing lighthearted moments on Monday in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Kansas City’s players were seen having fun on Monday, two days after the team’s preseason loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

While the team was huddled up on the practice field, Mahomes was spotted doing a euro-step move and pretending to dunk a football on running back Kareem Hunt, per a X video posted by KCTV 5.

However, Hunt appeared to almost lose his balance in the process.

Fortunately, the veteran didn’t hurt himself from the sequence.

During the same clip, Kelce noticed the backup quarterback Gardner Minshew walking his way.

The pair then performed a new handshake as the two slapped each other’s hands with Kelce doing a finger-gun gesture.

Fans praised Mahomes and Kelce’s interactions with their teammates.

“Wow, now this is the stuff that people want to see. A handshake. Well done,” one wrote.

“I need the Kelce-Minshew buddy cop comedy YESTERDAY,” another commented.

“Cute,” a third added.

Hunt and Minshew played in the team’s first preseason game.The running back posted 12 yards and caught one of his two targets for five yards.

Hunt will be competing for the No. 2 backup role.

As for Minshew, he replaced Mahomes in the game and completed six of nine passes for 54 yards.

He also recorded a rushing touchdown in his preseason debut with the Chiefs.

Minshew looks to be the backup quarterback as he competes with fellow signal-callers Bailey Zappe and Chris Aladokun.

Kansas City will face the Seattle Seahawks in the two teams’ second preseason game on Friday.

It’s likely that Mahomes will not play in the contest after playing just one preseason drive in the first game.

Head coach Andy Reid said in Wednesday’s press conference that there’s a “good chance” that Mahomes will rest along with other starters.
