The 18-year-old was set to attend Penn Tech in the fall

 

 

 

A PENNSYLVANIA high school is in mourning following the death of student-athlete, Damarius Nalik Galazra.

Galazra, who played football and ran track for Cedar Crest High School, passed away earlier this week, aged 18.

Galarza died in his sleep as a result of a “medical event”.

The Cornwall-Lebanon School District revealed the tragic passing of Galazra in a heartbreaking statement.

It read: “It read: “Cornwall-Lebanon School District is saddened today by the news that one of our students in 12th grade,

“Damarius Nalik Galarza, passed away Saturday night as a result of a medical event.

 

 

 

“On behalf of our entire school district community, we extend our deepest sympathy to Damarius’ family and friends during this very difficult time.

“Counsellors will be available to provide support to students and staff at the High School throughout the day on Monday, as well at other school buildings.”

 

 

 

Galarza’s mother paid a touching tribute to the late honour roll student, who was set to study construction management at Penn Tech in the fall,

A snippet of her statement read: “His laugh was contagious and he could make anyone smile, no matter what kind of day they were having.

“He played football, ran track, and loved fishing, skateboarding, rollerblading, and riding his bike.

“He cherished time with friends and family, and just got his driver’s license on Wednesday.

“He started working at Wendy’s when he was 15 and was proud of his independence.

“He was a very tall kid—6’4″—and his presence filled every room with warmth and joy.

 

 

 

“He had a special bond with his niece, who was born just a day before his birthday, and he loved playing the piano for her.

“He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, always cheering on his favorite team.

“He passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at home at just 18 years old.

 

 

 

“The loss has left our family heartbroken, and we are trying to find our way through this unimaginable pain.

“My son was always willing to help anyone, and his kindness touched so many lives.”

A GoFundMe has been set up by Galazra’s family to raise funds for his funeral.
