As Swifties patiently await Taylor Swift’s debut on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, even Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is excited to see the superstar in her element.

Mahomes, 29, was asked during a media availability for the Chiefs about the exciting news that Swift, 35, would be the guest on New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce on Wednesday, Aug. 13, as she gears up for the release of her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl.

The quarterback, whose wife Brittany Mahomes has become close friends with Swift since the singer began dating Kelce in 2023, said the news of Swift’s new album “surprised me too” on Wednesday.

“I knew before y’all did, just because they called me after the podcast,” Patrick revealed, noting that it wasn’t actually him who Swift and Kelce rang, but his wife.

“They didn’t call me, they called Brittany, and I was like, in the back of the Facetime,” he said.

“I’m obviously super excited,” Patrick added of the new album and podcast episode.

“Just knowing Taylor and seeing the process from just a little bit closer of how she makes the albums, it’s going to be amazing because of how much work she puts into it,” he said, adding, “and what better place to announce it than the New Heights podcast?”

Patrick said Kelce’s podcast is the best place for Swift to have made the announcement because “I feel like she can be herself and showcase who she is” around her boyfriend and his brother, Jason Kelce, who is Travis’ podcast co-host.

“I think people are going to be really excited to watch it tonight,” Patrick continued, adding that he’ll be tuning in alongside Swifties.

“I haven’t seen it yet, I’ve seen a little bit of clips like everybody else, but I’ll be tuned in tonight so I’ll have something to watch on this night off I have,” Patrick said with a smile.

Swift’s appearance on New Heights was first teased when the podcast account posted on Monday, Aug. 11, “92%ers, we’re coming back early for a special episode with a VERY special guest New episode Wednesday 7PM ET.”

The New Heights team released a preview of the episode a few hours later. In the clip, Swift told Travis that blue is a nice color on him.

“Yes, I know. It’s the color of your eyes, sweetie, it’s why we match so well,” he said. Swift replied, “We’re about to do a f—ing podcast!”

The Life of a Showgirl will be Swift’s twelfth studio album. The new album comes a few months after Swift re-acquired the masters from her first six albums —Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation — from Shamrock Capital in May.
