The seismic coaching shakeup out of Western New York is not sitting well with a certain Bills veteran.
Shortly after news broke Monday morning that the Bills are firing head coach Sean McDermott after nine seasons, defensive tackle Jordan Phillips took to Instagram to unload on the team’s decision-making.
“This s–t here is so stupid honestly sickening,” the 33-year-old Phillips wrote in an Instagram Story. “The best coach I’ve ever been around.”

Phillips, an NFL journeyman on his third stint with the Bills, spotlighted McDermott’s accolades in a follow-up post from the WNYorker account.
Safety Damar Hamlin also tweeted three heartbreak emojis in the wake of the news.
“A True Leader Of Men. Thank You For Everything! On & Beyond The Field. We Love You Coach,” Hamlin wrote in a follow-up tweet.
McDermott’s firing came two days after the Bills suffered another playoff heartbreak at the hands of an AFC powerhouse.
Buffalo, frequently stymied in the postseason by Kansas City, ran into a divisional-round roadblock in Denver, with the Broncos edging the Bills in overtime Saturday, 33-30.

Quarterback Josh Allen, who has been to the playoffs seven times in his eight years under McDermott, took responsibility for the loss.
McDermott ended his run in Buffalo with a 98-50 record in the regular season and an 8-8 mark in the playoffs.
The Bills are now the eighth team searching for a head coach this hiring cycle, joining the Steelers, Ravens, Browns, Titans, Dolphins, Cardinals and Raiders.
The Giants and the Falcons have since hired John Harbaugh and Kevin Stefanski, respectively, to fill their openings.
Brian Daboll, who was fired by the Giants midway through his fourth season as head coach, is a name that “keeps coming up” following McDermott’s dismissal, The Athletic reported Monday.
Before taking the top job with Big Blue in 2022, Daboll served as the Bills’ offensive coordinator for four seasons. He arrived in Buffalo in 2018, the same year the team drafted Allen.
