The Las Vegas Raiders defensive end was expected to complete a move to Baltimore but the Ravens “backed out”

The Raiders wrote online in a statement that Baltimore “have backed out” after an agreement to complete the deal on Wednesday, when the new NFL year officially starts.

But Crosby has quickly put all of the noise behind him, instead marking another major milestone in his life.

Taking to social media, he posted about sobriety, highlighting his latest achievement.

Crosby said, “3/11/20. 6 Years Sober. God Doesn’t Make Mistakes.”

And loving wife Rachel backed him up, also adding on Instagram, “YEAR SIX.

“Sobriety has given you and us the best life. Wouldn’t change a damn thing.

“Proud of you every single day. I love you so much.”

Alongside pictures of Crosby smoking and the pair sharing a kiss, Rachel added to her Insta story with a snap of Maxx and three-year-old daughter Ella.

She wrote, “Our man is 6 years sober.

“None of this could of happened if you didn’t check yourself into rehab 6 years ago. We are proud of you daily!

“Your hard work and dedication doesn’t ever go unnoticed. Ella and I love you so much baby! God doesn’t make any mistakes.”

Two years ago the player himself opened up on the struggles, admitting, “There were a lot of dark moments.”

He told The New York Post, “I can’t point to one thing specifically, but just not recognizing the person I looked at in the mirror.

“That was probably the darkest moment. I had no control over my life.

“It was a complete mess and chaos at all times, and it was overwhelming. The only person that was gonna change that was myself.

“There were a lot of people that helped, but I’ve tried to help a lot of people.

“I’ve been around people that have tried to help other people, and there’s about five percent of us, it’s like 5-10 percent that actually stay clean.

“The only way you do that is if you do the work, and it’s every single day.”

And he has kept on talking publicly amid the uncertainty over his future.

Crosby had been expected to become a Ravens player this week in exchange for the Raiders getting a 14th overall draft pick and a 2027 first-rounder as well.

But medical concerns have been cited as a reason for it all falling through after he suffered a knee injury in October.

His agent, CJ LaBoy, appeared to dispute this, claiming, “Maxx continues to be on track in his recovery and if anything is ahead of schedule according to his surgeon Dr Neal El Attrache.

“Maxx remains on track to return during the offseason program & will undoubtedly return as the dominant game wrecker he has been these past 7 seasons.”
