Travis Kelce is dealing with the “frustrating” aspects of playing football.
The Kansas City Chiefs star looked back on his team’s first game of the season — a 27-21 loss against the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil — in this week’s New Heights episode on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
In the Chiefs’ first series, the tight end collided with his teammate, wide receiver Xavier Worthy, when their routes inadvertently converged.
“I owe my guy big time, man, X knows it,” Kelce, 35, told his brother, co-host Jason Kelce. “I felt like s—, I could barely even f—in’ play the rest of that first half, man.
But we girded up once I found out that he was in better spirits than I imagined.”
Worthy, a second-year star out of Texas, missed the rest of the game and suffered a dislocated shoulder.
His timeline to return is unknown, but Chiefs coach Andy Reid gave a glimpse of his status on Monday, Sept. 8.
“He’s rehabbing and working his shoulder, we’ll see where it goes, day by day,” Reid told Sports Radio 810 WHB in Kansas City.

Kelce, however, said he will “take the most accountability” for the injury.
“I wasn’t ready, that first drive, I ran into one of my guys and offed him out of the game,” he said on New Heights.
“I literally took one of my players out. That’s one of the most frustrating parts and it’s hard to get your juices back going knowing you just hurt a guy.
I just gotta be better, man, I’m 13 years in the league there’s no excuse for me running into my own guys like that and being able to play fast and help.”
Kelce added that he believes Worthy is “one of our best players,” and that he’s a step away from “being one of the best receivers in the National Football League.”
It’s not the first time that a friendly fire incident has plagued the team.
Last year, also in a game against the Chargers, quarterback Patrick Mahomes inadvertently injured teammate Rashee Rice, who subsequently missed the rest of the season.
