Fans who tuned in to see a Super Bowl LIX rematch on Fox were not happy.
That’s because the network was required to air the conclusion of the Dallas Cowboys–New York Giants game, which went the distance in overtime.
Why have Kansas City Chiefs struggled to find a replacement for Tyreek Hill and a new No. 1 WR for Patrick Mahomes?
At the same time, the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles were getting underway at Arrowhead for a massive clash of heavyweights.Fans turned their televisions on to see Patrick Mahomes, but got Russell Wilson instead.
“Much of the country is being held hostage by Giants-Cowboy OT, while Eagles-Chiefs is already underway,” one angry fan wrote on X.
“I pay for YouTube TV Sunday Ticket and cannot watch the Chiefs right now. We are forced to watch overtime of Giants-Cowboys. Refund?” another chimed in.
“Really sucks having NFL Sunday Ticket but not getting to see the start of Eagles-Chiefs because Fox is sticking with Cowboys-Giants,” one more added. The Cowboys-Giants game went off the rails in the fourth quarter, with both teams combining for 41 points total.
Brandon Aubrey was the hero of the day for Dallas.
The Cowboys kicker drilled a 46-yard field goal on the final play of overtime for the win, after hitting a 64-yarder to tie it at the end of regulation.
As entertaining as the back-and-forth was, most of the country tuned in to the late afternoon window for Chiefs-Eagles.

Brady and Burkhardt of course were on the call last year when the Eagles bludgeoned the Chiefs 40-22.
Mahomes knows the challenge that awaits on Sunday afternoon and said the team can learn from their disappointing Super Bowl loss and use it to their advantage this time around.
“This is a really good football team. I mean, there’s no way around it,” Mahomes said of the Eagles on Wednesday to the media.
“They’re good at every aspect on defense and obviously on offense as well.
“You learn from the mistakes that you make. That’s a part of playing the game – you learn from your failures.
You learn from the positive things that you do, and you try to come back and play better football. It’s going to take our best football to go out there and get a win.”
He revealed how painful it was to watch the Super Bowl back on tape, but said it was necessary.
“I mean, it sucks that you lose the game. But in order to progress and to be better next time, you have to watch and learn from it,” Mahomes said.
“You watch it, and then you watch it in the offseason with the team and with the coaches. Then you watch it, obviously, this week as well. They had a great game plan.
“They played hard and did a great job of disrupting my timing. I have to learn from that [and] find ways to get the ball out of my hand.
Then when the opportunities are there … that’s something I did miss early in the game.
“There [were] opportunities to make plays. You got to make those plays. If you don’t, they’re not going to allow those opportunities again.”
