A MISSISSIPPI college football star was killed in a car crash.
Marcus Dickey, a junior college football player at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, died on Sunday.

Dickey had just transferred from Division-I Nicholls State to MGCCC this offseason and was on his way to campus when the crash happened.
No details have been released regarding what happened in the crash.
Dickey was a defensive lineman and appeared in games for Nicholls State in 2023.
“He was doing good,’ MGCCC head coach Jack Wright said in a press release.
“He was the kind of kid who was the first one in the meeting, one of the first guys out at practice, and one of the hardest workers in the weight room.”He always had a big ol’ smile on his face. He was everything you would want out of a teammate. Everything.
“He was a very positive young man in every regard. We’re very, very sad as coaches and players.
“We’re going to play and honor him this week and the rest of the year.”
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College plays in the MACCC, a JUCO league that was featured in a Netflix documentary.
Last Chance U followed the league through rival team East Mississippi Community College for two seasons.
EMCC ad MGCCC were scheduled to play their first game on Thursday.
“We are heartbroken by the passing of Marcus Dickey,” MGCCC President Dr. Mary S. Graham said in a press release.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends, teammates, and coaches, during this very difficult time.
“At Gulf Coast, our athletics program is like a family, and we will stand together to support one another through this tragedy.”
Dickey’s former team, Nicholls state, also released a statement regarding his death.
“We are saddened by the passing of former student-athlete Marcus Dickey, who played football two years at Nicholls after redshirting in 2022,” the team said on X.
“He touched many lives in his three years in Thibodaux and will be sorely missed.”Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and teammates.”
