The Chiefs were beaten 20-13 by their AFC West rivals the Denver Broncos.

Kansas City has just one more game remaining in 2025, on the road at the Las Vegas Raiders.

And that meant the Broncos showdown could’ve potentially been Kelce’s last ever home game.

The tight end has not yet confirmed whether he’ll continue to play in 2026.

And he was visibly emotional as he left the field on Thursday night.

“A whole lot of emotions,” Kelce said after the game.

“You’ve got everybody in the world watching you. You get to go out there with the young guys on primetime television.

“Young guys getting an opportunity to taste what this NFL life is like.

“You only get a few of those (moments) where you get to stand there and appreciate 60, 70-thousand Chiefs fans cheering for you – I always embrace that moment.”

And speaking about retirement, Kelce said, “I’ll let that be a decision I’ll make with my family, friends, the Chiefs organization when the time comes.”

Kelce shook hands with teammates and opposition on the field after the loss which left Kansas City 6-10.

Amazon Prime cameras panned to his fiancee Swift and his mom Donna in the stands during the fourth quarter.

And they followed him as he shook hands with members of the opposition after the game.

Amazon commentator Kirk Herbstreit said Kelce was, “Universally respected throughout this league for the way he plays the game.”

Kelce was the Chiefs’ leading receiver Thursday night with five catches for 36 yards, and had a shot to level the game on the final drive.

He spoke before the game to Chiefs legend turned broadcaster Tony Gonzalez about potential retirement.

“I think I’m still searching for those answers,” Kelce said on his retirement decision.

“Obviously the way this one ended with a sour taste in my mouth.

“I feel motivated but I’ve got to make the right decision for myself.

“Just the fact that when I know it’s over, it’s over.

“I still have a lot of love for this game.

“If I came back it would be just to answer that flame in my heart for this thing.

“If it was just Sundays, I think I could play until I’m 50 but obviously there is so much that goes into it.”
