Eric Bieniemy has let slip about his interactions with Kelce since returning to the NFL franchise.

The 56-year-old has suggested that Kelce will return for another season with the Chiefs.

Bieniemy has returned to the Chiefs as the team’s new offensive coordinator ahead of the 2026 season.

He previously held the role from 2018 to 2022 after a lengthy spell as the Chiefs’ running backs coach.

Coach Bieniemy appeared at a press conference to explain his excitement upon rejoining the team.

This includes working once again with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, 30, and tight end Kelce.

“I’ve had a small minimal conversation with both and they all have been great, but more than anything, it’s just the excitement of reuniting,” Bieniemy said.

“It feels good just to sit down and have conversations with guys. To be honest, I haven’t talked any football or anything, it’s just the excitement of seeing each other.”

It is thought that Bieniemy’s hiring could encourage Kelce to stay on for another year.

Coach Bieniemy won the Super Bowl twice during his first stint with the Chiefs.

There has been significant speculation surrounding Kelce’s future following a poor 2025 campaign with the Chiefs.

The Chiefs recorded just six wins throughout the 2025 campaign.

This saw the franchise fail to reach the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

Tight end Kelce has pulled out of the Pro Bowl after suffering an injury.

Franchise owner Clark Hunt, 60, has urged Kelce to come back for another season.

The Chiefs are also looking to recruit a tight end in the 2026 NFL Draft ahead of the new season.

Kelce signed a two-year, $34.25 million contract extension in April 2024.

He is set to become a free agent his contract expires on March 11.
